Service Quality: Some guests praised the friendly and helpful staff, particularly at the restaurant and retail shop. However, service inconsistencies were noted, such as slow response times for maintenance requests and limited communication during emergencies.

We stayed in the Lakeview Cabin, we arrived at 4:20 to check in and our room still wasn’t ready despite check-in time being 3pm. We alerted the Manager who advised that there’s nothing he can do, the previous guests checked out late… On arrival at our cabin, cleaning materials were laying around and even after the lady had “finished” at the unit. The main light for the main bedroom didn’t work, the carpet was burnt and stained with dead bugs… The bed was not very comfortable, bad pillows, no heater, no electric blanket. Suggest you bring your own wood as the wood at the shop onsite was wet. No coffee or tea in the cabins either so come prepared. Light still not working on day 2 even after alerting reception immediately after checking on day 1. Went for couples massages at the spa, my therapist wasn’t ready and so my hot stones were not so hot for the first part of the massage and they finished the massage 8 minutes early…in too much of a hurry to leave. The treatment room was cold too. We weren’t offered anything to drink afterwards either… Went for a walk on the hiking trail and around the property, quite a bit of litter which is disappointing.

We spend 4 nights with my family. Roads leading to the place are not good at all. However views from the gate to the reception are spectacular. Check in was quick. We booked at the equestrian which is a bit far from the reception. Our two bedroom villa was big enough. We used 1818 restaurant most of the time. We even braided on our last night. There are activities to do inside the estate, including fly fishing. We visited Highland gate golf and Trout Estate. We also went to Milly”s Farmstall and restaurant. It’s peaceful and quiet. I would definitely go back.

This place is beautiful when you arrive to reception, eat in the restaurant and vew the grounds. Once you get to your cottage, the facility is just basic! The photos I was shown to book the property were completely different from reality. I think they just show you the property that they are selling, and not what you are actually reserving. Just a waste of money. The couches stink, there are bugs on the ceiling, the bath faucet is broken, the rooms have no heating, and the night lights on the walking trail.

Dunkeld Country Estate was the perfect getaway for our group of friends! We had an amazing time horse riding and quad biking—such fun and well-organised activities. The tea garden braai was a fantastic experience, and the jazz bar had such a great vibe, making for the perfect evening. The estate itself is absolutely beautiful, with stunning surroundings and a peaceful atmosphere. The farmyard was a lovely touch, adding to the charm of the place. Highly recommend for a fun and relaxing escape!

Forgot a personal item. Called to find out if anyone had picked it up. It was confirmed that the item was found and would be available at reception for collection. Went to collect. I was given a run around. I was told that the item is in the store room and someone knocked off, leaving with the store room key. Left my details to have the item couriered to me. Received no feedback and when I called back, I was told that the item was nowhere to be found. I understand the clause absolving the establishment from theft and loss but to have something dissappear from a lost and found pile is just ridiculous.

Unless the meaning of the word has changed, this is a gross misrepresentation. An Estate it is not. After looking forward to visiting Dunkeld for a long time and after what I experienced throughout my recent visit, the only thing I am glad about is that I will never visit this so-called Estate again. I found it very difficult to summarise this unfortunate list any more, so please bear with me and believe me it pains me as I also once loved this place. Dishes that seem to have never been washed, thick yellow grime, disgusting! Miss matched dishes, furniture, tiles. Missing freezer drawers, the one that is there is broken. Missing tiles, missing light bulbs(VERY DANGEROUS), lose electrical appliances with exposed wiring(VERY DANGEROUS) Filthy, the whole place was just dirty. Water damage in just about every room. Door handles are broken and doors don't close properly. And surprisingly don't open cleanly either, bang into the pathetic “dresser table” or the toilet, it's a joke really. Hanging shelves, closets that are not deep enough for the coat hanger in them. The mountain bike trail is not maintained as they assured me it was. Fallen trees, yes multiple, not marked clearly, and broken crossing bridges (VERY DANGEROUS). The vista outlook is so battered some railings and floor boards are non-existent. The entertainment area comes across more as a staff hangout than anything. As early as 8am some days blaring FILTHY language music, including reception, and throughout the day ensuring that the game just don't wander near that quadrant of the resort. Harsh or nit-picky it may seem, the extensive investment it takes to visit a place like this and considering how they advertise them self I can assure you I am unable to put in words how disappointed I am with everything I experienced here.

Very disappointing. I found it actually depressing. The entrance is stunning as you drive through a beautiful forest area, and that's about where the joy ends. Its all face brick, dull , cold and old. We stayed in the new area, but the directions and map there are really difficult to follow. Thank God we needed to find our room in the daylight. Very badly signposted and unkept roads. Our room, we needed to share the kitchen lounge area, with other guests, no tea, coffee, milk or water in the rooms. The vibe was just off for me.

What a beautiful setting. All the right ingredients. Coloured huge leaves decorated the lawns with the autumn colours. Big shiny trout dams glittering in the sunlight. Overpowering trees with mysterious shades in the woods. Beautiful chalets built with rocks. This place had it all. It took my breath away. Soon to be disappointed. The unit was put together by unqualified people. Misaligned cupboards and drawers, drawers not closings, extractor fan installed sky high in the air, lights installed in dysfunctional places, dirty toilet under the rim, bathroom tiles filthy. The indoor swimming pool was milky. There were 2 huge holes on one of the dam's edges. Very easy for a fisherman to break a leg there. One could see that it was there for a long time. The bicycles were unavailable or broken. The tuck shop had 3 ice creams in stock. I bought 1 and it was frozen, melted and refrozen, not good. The receptionists were very friendly. The lady at the retail shop was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very good. They just played the same music every day for a whole week long. Rather frustrating. We did complain but apparently that was the manager's instruction to use only that music selection. In this day and age with the variety available at a rather low cost, that is really unacceptable. The food was excellent. David , the fly fishing coach was a star. All in all it still was a memorable stay. We will go back again. It is a lovely setting, but we do expect the Top Management of the group to pull up their socks. It is a beautiful place. It just needs attention to detail and a firm hand. It is a pity to see that such a beautiful venue is busy falling to pieces.
